Reduce amount of sodium, animal protein, calcium, and oxalate in your diet. Drink the juice extracted from the stem of banana plant which has diuretic properties. Figs and Basil leaves improve overall health of the kidneys. Tomato juice helps dissolve mineral salt deposits in the kidneys. Lemon juice contains citric acid that breaks down calcium-based stones.
According to Ayurveda, Alzheimer’s is caused as a result of the imbalance in Vata dosha. So a vata balancing diet is advised. Herbs like Ashwagandha, Brahmi, Gingko, Vacha and Turmeric are effective. Ayurveda therapies such as Rasayana therapies, Shiro vasti, Shiro Dhara, Shiro Pichu, Abhyanga, Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya are helpful.
Virechana Karma is a medicated purgation therapy which removes Pitta toxins from the body and is recommended in cases of Chronic Fever, Diabetes, Asthma, Joint disorders, Digestive disorders, Hyper acidity, Headaches, Gynaecological disorders etc. It should be avoided in small children, the elderly and in cases where digestive fire is weak.
Ayurveda recommends nasya karma, where there is an instillation of herbal medications through the nostrils and is done for 3-7 days; Netra tarpana/netra basti, this procedure includes keeping wheat flour doughnuts above the eyes and filling them with warm ghee; and Netra dhara, a cleansing technique of pouring herbal decoctions over the eyes for 20 minutes to delay cataract, treat conjunctivitis and eye strain.
