You have a secure job, a comfortable relationship, nice friends, a warm home, yet you are unhappy. So many of us stay where we are in life due to comfort and security. You assume you can’t do better so why try, you figure you shouldn’t be too picky in love, and you feel that you are only getting older. Why do people settle for less than they deserve?

Is it a lack of confidence, fear of rejection, fear of the unknown, or all of the above? What would it take to take the risk in order to feel alive and complete again? You teach others how to treat you. How would you feel if you went after that job promotion? How gratifying would it be to seek out a partner you truly enjoy and feel good about? Life is clearly about choices and creating a life you love. What would it take in order to let go of the negative baggage in order to experience the positive possibilities?

Everything in life is a risk, no one can tell you 100% the outcome. Would you rather stay on the path you’ve been traveling, or venture out and explore a little and see what is in store for you? I would rather move forward in life knowing I gave it my all and was true to myself and my needs, than play it safe and regret not trying. Which path are you willing to go down?

    ACTION STEPS FOR THE WEEK:

    1. Grab a pen

Where in your life are you settling? What areas do you play it safe? Of these, where are you willing to take a risk and venture forward? What are the pros and cons of both sides? When you detail why you are staying “as is” you can then decide your options. Are you ready to make a change, or do you need more time to explore the possibilities? Take some time this week to brainstorm which areas in your life you would like to change.

    2. Pros and Cons

Looking at your list, get more specific on the pros and cons of staying where you are or making a change. What is the worst thing that could happen if you continue to settle in your life? Your life would remain “as is” and you might spend your life wondering “what if”. What is the best thing that could happen if you ventured forward and gave it your all? You will experience the unfolding of a life that you’ve given it your all.

    3. Tap into resources

Educate yourself before making decisions. Gather all the information you need to make an informed decision. Bounce ideas off friends, colleagues, or a life coach. Use your support group to help you move forward and make the best out of your life. This group of individuals only wants the best for you, and will support you in being true to yourself above all else.
