This way you can save money and reduce your carbon footprint. Below are 12 vegetables and herbs you can buy once and regrow forever! 

1. Ginger


Ginger can be regrown after soaking its chunks in water overnight. You can transfer them to a pot after and place the pot in a sunny spot.

2. Garlic


You can regrow garlic sprouts just by using a single garlic clove. Just place the garlic cloves in a glass with little water and wait for the shoots to grow taller. Alternatively, you can plant the clove directly into the soil.

3. Onion


Onions can be regrown from the bottom of the onion itself. Just cut off the onion bottom, let it dry for some time and plant it in soil.

4. Carrots


Carrot leaves are edible and you can regrow them by putting the carrot tops in water in a well-lit room or a window sill.

5. Basil


You can regrow basil by putting the stems with the leaf nodes in a glass of water and place it in a sunny spot. Wait for the roots to grow back two inches longer and then transfer them into pots.

6. Lemongrass


Lemongrass can be regrown by placing its stacks in water. After 2-3 weeks, you can plant the lemongrass stalks in a pot with soil in a sunny place.

7. Romaine Lettuce


You can regrow romaine lettuce from the bottom of the stump. Put them in about half inch of water for a few day and refill the water if it is less than half inch. You can transfer and plant them in soil, once the leaves start growing.

8. Green Onion


These are the easiest vegetables to regrow. Cut an inch from the root and place it in a glass of water.

9. Celery


You can regrow celery by cutting off the base. Place it in a bowl of warm water and keep it at a sunny spot. Within 5-7 days you will notice the leaves start growing. Then you can transfer it to a pot with soil.

10. Cilantro


You can regrow cilantro by placing its stems in a glass of water. After the roots grow long enough you can transfer them to a pot and place it in a sunny spot.

11. Bok Choy


You can regrow bok choy by placing the roots in water. Within 1-2 weeks you can transfer it to a pot with sil and let the full head grow.

12. Sweet Potato


Sweet potatoes can be regrown by placing it in a jar of water in direct sunlight. You can transfer the well sported to a pot.
