Dehydration can affect the way you feel as well and does immediate damage to your mental abilities, which is worse. According to most of the researches, dehydration even shrinks your brain. Therefore, lack of water in your body is a very significant deficiency, which should be prevented as often as you can.

Research on Dehydration

According to one of the studies, dehydrated women experienced a significant drop-off in energy and mood. They felt tired and lousy and also, women were more likely to have headaches and report difficulty in concentrating.

There’s even evidence that your brain will shrink if you’re dehydrated. Anyhow, scientists say that the brain is extremely sensitive to even small changes in the amounts of ions like sodium and potassium found in your body’s fluids. Although the research doesn’t pinpoint the exact reason why the brain flips out when it becomes dehydrated, experts say the mood and energy changes may be some sort of built-in alarm system, there to let you know you need water.

However, one of the experts assert that not everyone needs to drink as much water as possible. The researcher says that people with congestive heart failure and people with certain kinds of kidney disease may want to limit their fluid intake, and should talk to their doctor about how much water they should drink.

Other Effects of Dehydration

Generally, 4 to 8 hours without water will leads to mild dehydration and can cause about a 1.5 percent loss of body weight. Roughly 24 hours without water will lead to severe dehydration and can lead to about 4 percent drop in body weight.
