All negative emotions are the same. The main ones are sadness, anger, anxiety, hatred, and envy. The hormones released to induce these states are also the same. Even the underlying reason for all these emotions is only one: It is a mismatch between your expectation or what you desire and what you get or think you should get. So,

  • If any of your desires are not met or
  • Things do not go as per your requirements or
  • You encounter a situation which you feel you cannot handle;

You feel sad, angry, anxious, hyper, jealous and so on.

Yoga works by making you more objective, calm and in control of situations. The underlying cause is STRESS and this is what is taken care of. This could be mental, physical, physiological or emotional stress.

The following 2 techniques are the most important to take care of sadness and all the other related emotions mentioned above.

1. Nishpanda Bhava

2. Savasana
