As parents, one of our most important goals is to help our children grow up to become healthy, happy and productive adults. In order to accomplish this goal you must begin by teaching your child the importance of healthy living. We live in an ever-changing world where everyone experiences varying degree of stress, even children.
Many adults are blinded by the misconception that only grown-ups experience stress in their lives. Many adults think, “What do kids have to worry about? They have it all planned out and easy? What problems or serious responsibilities do they need to worry about in life yet?”, but that is where they get it all wrong.

Our children live in a society that is constantly on the move. Busy parents rushing their children to school in morning, the pressure to get good grades in school, memory sapping music lessons, chorus bands, attention seeking friends, the need to fit in, self-esteem issues, and competitive sports. We usually don’t think of these influences as stressful things for our kids, but in reality, they are very serious in the eyes of a child. When they assume the pose of the lion (Simhasana) for example, they experience not only the power and behavior of the lion, but also their own sense of power: when to be aggressive, when to retreat. Thats what I said you can if you wish at any age its your choice but is not advisable ....the point here is not if the asanas are easy or hard to do any asana initially for a beginner is bit hard but eventually becomes easy . Its nothing like hard asanas are more effective and vice versa . The point is what is the purpose of Yoga ?? does a six year old really need to start is something to think about .
I started doing it when i was nine !! though am not practicing it still its cake walk for me to do those asanas at 33 !!
I am a Trained Yoga instructor that s what I have been taught in India and I practice that ...I may be wrong but its not at all necessary to start even basics with a 6 six year old , you can believe your choice . I dont
