Curejoy Expert Dr.Janardhana Hebbar Explains:

In Ayurveda, symptoms and diseases can be predicted by a simple tongue examination of the patient and tells a lot about one’s state of health.

For instance, if the tongue is cold to touch, has split ridges, or rough to touch, it suggests that Vata dosha has increased in the body and the disease has a vata origin. Common Vata imbalance disorders result in bloating, constipation, myalgia, and arthritis.

If the tongue is very hot to touch, excessively red, has blood stained spots then it implies a Pitta dosha excess. Usually a patient with Pitta imbalance suffers from gastritis, gout, nasal bleeding, and migraine.

If the tongue is cold to touch, very immobile, with white coating, sticky, then it hints towards a Kapha dosha imbalance. Indigestion, stomach heaviness, cold, cough, rhinitis, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis are some of the examples for Kapha disorders
