What Is Fasciitis Pain?
The plantar fascia is a thin ligament that connects your heel to the front of your foot. It supports the arch in your foot and is important in helping you walk. Plantar fasciitis, which often causes fasciitis pain, is one of the most common orthopedic complaints.
Why Does It Pain?
The plantar fascia ligaments tend to experience quite a lot of wear and tear in your daily life. Generally, these ligaments act as shock absorbers, supporting the arch of the foot. Too much pressure on your feet can damage or tear the ligaments. The plantar fascia becomes inflamed, and the inflammation causes heel pain and stiffness.
Home Remedies For Plantar Fasciitis
- Applying Ice: Initial home treatment includes staying off your feet and applying ice for 15 to 20 minutes three or four times a day to reduce swelling. You can also try reducing or changing your exercise activities.
- Turmeric: Turmeric is an excellent remedy for plantar fascia. Turmeric extract curcumin can improve primary inflammatory efficiency since it is said to be a biological response modifier. This may heal inflammatory tissues associated with plantar fasciitis.
- Mustard Oil: Mustard oil has anti-inflammatory and pain healing properties that will remove the stress from the plantar fascia and calm the inflamed tissue.
- Ginger: Ginger abounds in anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties.
- Wear The Right Shoes: Wear shoes that have proper cushioning for the soles and the right arch support for your foot.
What Treatments Are Available For Plantar Fasciitis?
Physical Therapies: Physical therapy is an important part of treatment for planter fasciitis. It can help stretch your plantar fascia and Achilles tendons.
Using Braces and Supports: Night splints are another treatment that can help stretch your calf and the arch of your foot.
Surgical Procedures: Few people need surgery to detach the plantar fascia from the heel bone. It’s generally an option only when the pain is severe and all else fails.
I had plantar fasciitis for almost 2 years and was unable to walk without atrocious pain that, I guess, most of you are dealing with on daily basis. Physiotherapy, acupuncture, orthotics helped me a bit but the result was temporary. The situation was really bad and I didn't know what to do back then. However, one day I scrolled through facebook and accidentally found an alternative treatment. It's an e-book that was created by former chronic plantar fasciitis sufferer. He claimed that he cured his PF permanently in one week at his home. I was skeptical about it, but I had nothing to lose, so I gave it a go (by the way, you can find it here: http://dietandhealthreviews.com/fast-plantar-fasciitis-cure-review/). After reading it, I didn't believe that some specific exercises and home remedies can help me to deal with plantar fasciitis, but I started following it and surprisingly after few days my pain was almost gone! It didn't last long until my PF went away permanently! So from now on, I recommend everyone who have plantar fasciitis to do specific exercises and try some alternative treatments ;)
For this problem take 50 grams each of fenugreek seeds and onion seeds known as kalounji. In 30 days maximum problem will be gone continue of need be. relief can be felt from day 2.
This is what im fighting . It got so bad I couldn't walk. Freezing a water bottle and rolling it under each foot for five min helped as well. Turmeric. And thats probably spelled wrong. But it also helps.
Or....you can do transverse fiber frictioning on the plantar tendon, then ice and wear cowboy boots for awhile.
I just got over this! I had it years ago, so I knew what to do, thanks to my Runner Podiatrist! I used Ice, stretching, supportive shoes! Swimming, biking, no walking! And when it was really bad, Ibuprofen!
All those years of being on ur feet. Yes old age sucks but as long as we're not in pain EVERY DAY we can do it. Oh and quit dancing in Ron's garage!! LOL
Yes, I have been suffering for a couple of months but I am doing all the things I should be doing and it is starting to get better. In spain I had to walk a lot so at night I would go to bed with ice and antiinflammatories. I dont really like getting older and finding this body slowing me down.
Cynthia Kelley Not with mine it is not. Then again I would be suspect of anyone who forebodes as they tend to keep changing what is forbidden and what is not. What does not change is they are comfortable with have given bad information in the first place. Agumentum ad Verecundiam.
warm one spoon full of mustard oil and MIX around 2 gm of turmeric powder with this oil and apply to affected areas before sleep; The pain shall go away when you wake up in morning.
Superfeet are a good alternative to expensive to orthopedics. Worth a try. Alternate footwear. Barefoot is good for your feet problems arise when you go back to mistreating your feet with shoes.
I had it really bad, my massage therapist suggested I stretch my calves and does it work. I stand on steps & drop my heals for several seconds. When I feel some pain, I realize I haven't stretched for a few days. I am amazed how well it works, be sure & hold onto the hand rails so you don't fall backwards!
Custom made orthotics can be very helpful. Calf stretching exercises, icing regularly(can roll with a frozen water bottle!) are all helpful.
I suffered with this for a couple of years. Horrible! Tried acupuncture but no long term relief. Had orthotics made & told to concentrate on exercises to get calf muscles stretched. Thankfully now under control.
My daughter has been suffering from this since age 11. They keep changing her orthotics , and that's not really helping her... I don't know what else to try to help her
Oh I know exactly what you mean. I did almost all of these recommendations, and the only thing that helped me was cortisone shot in the heal, twice. I didn't want to do it, but I also wanted to avoid surgery. It worked wonders. Now my other heal is in pain, so I'll do the same thing and hope for the best.
