10 Reasons You Need To Give Dieting The Boot

Diet is not the answer to your weight loss prayers. In fact, it will most likely only temporarily lower the scales. “Diet food” is costlier than regular food, not to mention the consequential morale deflation. Obsessing about food will leave you looking dissatisfied 24x7. Diet fads definitely don’t boost sex appeal. When not in control, they can grow into injurious eating disorders.

A new diet book hits the shelves and becomes a bestseller every other week it seems. If you sneak a peek inside, you quickly realize it’s the same as the last book you picked up. While the techniques or foods lists may be different, they’re all based on principles of restriction, deprivation, rules, and the focus is on weight loss at any cost.

Sure, you can lose weight on any diet out there. But at what cost? There is no magic number that the scale can show you that will make you feel great about yourself if you already feel shitty about yourself.

Imprisoning yourself in the diet mindset is terrifying. You don’t even need to be following a “diet” currently because over time, all the rules from past diets, things friends and family have said, etc. get stuck in your head. This can leave you feeling tremendous shame from indulging in your favorite foods, eating more than 1200 calories, or even eating when you’re not hungry.

Top 10 Reasons You Should Give Dieting The Boot!

1. Diets Are A Letdown.

They don’t work over the long haul. Even if you lose weight through counting, restricting and depriving yourself, you will likely gain is all back (plus some.)

2. Diets Are A Waste Of Money.

If the cost of buying specialty diet foods, pills, and products isn’t enough, imagine the cost to your self-esteem, your relationships, your loved ones.

3. Diets Make You Boring.

Have you ever noticed that people on diets always talk about and think about food AND NOTHING ELSE? Life isn’t about food, life is about having fun!

4. Diets Can Make You Sick.

Despite all that you’ve been told, there are several studies that indicate at people with a few extra pounds live longer. Depending on the plan you choose, you could be doing more harm than good.

5. Diets Make You Ugly.

Diets don’t make you beautiful. Or perfect. Or anything other than what you already are. There is no magic number on the scale that will make you instantly become something (or someone else.) You don’t have to be thin to be attractive. And besides, do you think that pained look of hunger on your face is cute?

6. Diets Are Not Sexy.

If you want to feel and be more attractive, take care of your body and your appearance. Feeling healthy and well will always shine through and make you look your best.

7. Diets Can Turn Into Eating Disorders.

The obsession with counting, measuring and weighing can lead to anorexia, bulimia, orthorexia, binge eating, compulsive overeating, and compulsive exercising.

8. Diets Can Make You Afraid Of Food.

There’s something that happens to us when we diet. We give all our power and control over to food. And then, because we believe that falsehood, we become afraid to eat certain kinds of food, and a new cycle of restriction starts again.

9. Diets Suck The Life Out Of You.

Usually through limitation ( calories, pleasure) or the near constant effort needed to stay on the diet, dieting drains you of energy (and the will to live?) If you want to lead a full and active life, you need good nutrition and enough food to meet your bodies needs.

10. Learning To Love And Accept Yourself Feels Better Than Dieting.

Resolving all the reasons you give yourself for not being okay until you lose the weight is awesome. Discovering the keys to self-confidence, better health, and a sense of well-being is PRICELESS.
