Is Raw Milk More Nutritious Than Pasteurized Milk?

Raw milk contains gut friendly bacteria, the perfect blend of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, several vitamins and over 60 digestive enzymes. When pasteurized milk loses useful enzymes, healthy bacteria, vitamins and promotes pathogens. However raw milk is highly prone to contamination more, making it a healthy yet risky form to consume.

Many consumers believe that raw milk is higher in nutritional content than pasteurized milk, which may have some merit. Raw milk comes from cows that graze on grass. Some evidence suggests that milk from these cows is likely to have higher levels of fat-soluble vitamins and other nutrients. In fact, several studies have demonstrated the superior safety of raw milk compared to pasteurized.

Raw Milk Health Benefits:

-Loaded with healthy bacteria that are good for your gastrointestinal tract.
-High in omega-3 and low omega-6, which is the beneficial ratio between these two essential fats.
-Full of more than 60 digestive enzymes, growth factors, and immunoglobulins (antibodies). These enzymes are destroyed during pasteurization, making pasteurized milk much harder to digest .
-Loaded with vitamins (A, B, C, D, E, and K) in highly bioavailable forms, and a very balanced blend of minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and iron) whose absorption is enhanced by live lactobacilli.
-Rich in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which fights cancer and boosts metabolism.
-Rich in beneficial raw fats, amino acids, and proteins in a highly bioavailable form, all 100 percent digestible. It also contains phosphatase, an enzyme that aids and assists in the absorption of calcium in your bones, and lipase enzyme, which helps to hydrolyze and absorb fats
-Pasteurizing milk, on the other hand, destroys enzymes, diminishes vitamins, denatures fragile milk proteins, destroys vitamin B12 and vitamin B6, kills beneficial bacteria, and actually promotes pathogens.

Dangers of Consuming Raw Milk:

-In the US, several states have outright banned the sale of raw milk for fear of contamination.
-Both the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the CDC warn that raw milk can carry disease-causing bacteria. CDC lists it as one of the riskiest foods in America
-Though consumption of raw milk may be more beneficial than pasteurized, cleanliness and pasture are critical parameters for producing healthy milk fit for raw consumption.

I grew up on a farm & always drank it straight from the cow... Now I'm older & can make my own decisions I know that we don't need milk as soon as our mum stop producing it the only being who needs cows milk is the damn calf it gave birth too...

Raw milk should not be consumed directly because it contains bacterias which can cause tuberculosis. When milk is pasteurised these bacterias are removed from milk. So there is always risk in consuming raw milk.

Dear Admin, can you specify which milk you are talking about, a jercy, HF cow's milk or desi cow's milk? If it is HF cow's milk then it is not milk at all, jercy cow is created animal by man, to put more meat on the plate and more milk on the glass, on the other hand desi cow's milk as all the references in Ayurveda, and the milk that it gives is of A2 type,

The FDA is corrupt and good at manufacturing lies then selling it to the public -- all in the name of the mighty dollar. Sugar is a legal poison and how about GMO'S?! There's nothing wrong with raw milk. I've been drinking it for the last year and it tastes much better!

If I was milking the cow I would trust it but I don't trust the handling of raw. So grass milk is my next best step. If I could buy raw I would boil it myself but that may be just a pain also.

Now a days in India packet pasteurized milk is not good for health forget about nutritional content in it....if some body wants milk good and nutritious for themselves and for their family members mainly for children they should maintain a dairy farm with good breed of cows,buffaloes ........
