There Is Only One First Moment

Angela Gallo knows that the world is divided between those who want childbirth to be documented and among those who think it is raw and impersonal. Motivated by the critics, she talks, and takes these photographs of moms in hope to provide solace especially to women who are scared of giving birth. She says, “Childbirth can be some transformative experience rich with potential. Potential to connect deeply to our bodies, our babies, our loved ones, and ourselves.”

Each year, the International Association of Birth Photographers1 holds this competition and showcases the best childbirth photos. Some of these are really intense, while others are amazing and beautiful in every sense.

If you are still in two minds about birth photography, and think that you would not like a stranger taking out a camera during those really personal and painful moments, talk to the photographer and your partner to take the best decision.

However, do remember to hire one early on the pregnancy as birth photographers tends to limit the number of clients to avoid clashing their birth date. Also, while most hospitals and doctors are okay with this, talk to your doctor and your nurse. Most are okay with still photos, but you might need permission for a video.

There are numerous birth photography packages that you can choose from. If you are still wondering whether it is worth it, then some couples have quoted that now they had those first moments captured forever.
