What Are The Home Remedies For Hepatitis?

Hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver. This happens due to excessive consumption of alcohol, exposure to toxic chemicals and allergic reactions. The symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea, dark urine and sensitivity to light. You could counter Hepatitis with home remedies like Garlic, Ginger and Lime Juice, Artichokes, Turmeric, Grapes, Tomatoes, and Curd. 

What it Hepatitis and what causes it?

Hepatitis is basically the disease related to liver. Precisely, it is an inflammation of the liver. This happens due to excessive consumption of alcohol, exposure to toxic chemicals, allergic reactions, or overdoses of some prescription drugs, but it is most commonly caused by viral infection. Chronic hepatitis is an inflammation that lasts more than six months.

Symptoms of Hepatitis

At least seven different hepatitis viruses cause liver infection, so blood tests are needed for an accurate diagnosis. As far as the symptoms are concerned, initially they may include malaise and loss of appetite. Later symptoms may include fever, nausea, sensitivity to light, vomiting, headache, swollen joints, dark urine, abdominal discomfort, and jaundice.

Home Remedies For Hepatitis

Garlic

Raw garlic purifies the blood and also helps to remove the toxins from the body. It is also said to have anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties, which keeps viral infections at bay, which is one of the causes of hepatitis.

Ginger and Lime Juice

Mix one tablespoon of ginger juice, one teaspoon of lime and mint juice and one tablespoon of honey. Drink this concoction 2-3 times every day. This is said to be a good home remedy for patients suffering from jaundice.

Artichokes

Make sure you take enough artichokes in your diet if you are suffering from hepatitis. Artichokes are essential to help reduce swelling in the liver. They also enhance the effectiveness of liver function.

Turmeric

Turmeric has been found to be beneficial in treating a host of diseases like flus, coughs, colds and hepatitis. This is because it has very strong anti-microbial properties. Once your bilirubin counts fall and you are able to eat normally again, it is a good idea to include turmeric in your diet.

Grapes

Grapes as a fruit have a good reputation in treating viral hepatitis. It helps to restore normal functioning in a defective or inflamed liver and lowers the bilirubin count in patients.

Tomatoes

Consume plenty of fresh tomatoes and tomato juice to ensure that your liver is functioning properly. Add a dash of salt and pepper to the tomato juice and have it as soon as you get up in the morning.

Curd

Consuming curd is very good for jaundice and hepatitis. The lactic acid in the curd helps to keep the levels of ammonia in check. This keeps the liver inflammation in check.
