Lavender Essential Oil: Calms and eases muscle tension. Apply topically on sole. These can be used as a single oil or as a mix depending on your preference.

Being physically active can be really hard on your body. My son loves running and is on the track team at his school. This requires hours of daily practice beginning months before the season actually starts.

Thankfully he likes eating healthy foods and follows a vegetarian diet. This helps with increased energy, faster recovery, and less inflammation. All good things, especially if you’re an athlete.

Now this doesn’t mean that he doesn’t get sore, achy muscles. Given that I like to follow a healthy lifestyle and encourage my family to do the same, we turn to essential oils to help give him more of a boost in his health.

Essential Oils are natural, aromatic compounds made from all parts of the plant: seeds, bark, stems, roots, and flowers. When utilizing essential oils for health purposes, always choose a high quality oil. Most available on the market today are adulterated and contain additives and/or harmful ingredients. If you’d like to know which ones I use and recommend, contact me to learn more.

Top Essential Oils To Get Through Track Season

1. Melaleuca Essential Oil

It promotes healthy immune function and protects against environmental and seasonal threats. You can apply Melaleuca topically to the bottom of your feet or take internally by adding a drop or two to a glass of water.

2. The Protective Blend

A blend of Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary. It helps to maintain healthy immune function, protects against environmental threats, and supports healthy respiratory function. It can be applied topically to the chest or bottom of feet, diffused in a diffuser, or taken internally by adding a few drops to a glass of water.

3. Peppermint Essential Oil

It helps alleviate stomach upset and promotes healthy respiratory function. It also gives a nice boost when you’re tired or need a little extra energy. You can apply it topically to the stomach for digestive discomfort or to the desired area.

4. Lavender Essential Oil

Known for it’s calming and soothing properties, it is a great oil to ease muscle tension or help you relax before bed. Lavender may be applied topically to the desired area or to the bottom of the feet. Diffusing is also a great way to enjoy the calming properties of Lavender Essential Oil.

5. The Soothing Blend

This is a blend of Blue Chamomile, Blue Tansy, Camphor, Helichrysum, Osmanthus, Peppermint and Wintergreen. It soothes sore muscles and achy joints and supports healthy circulation. Massage this blend directly onto desired area or bottom of feet.

As you can see, essential oils may be used for a wide range of health and wellness applications. They can be used a single oil at a time or a mix depending on your personal needs. Next time you head out for a run or to the gym, don’t forget your essentials (essential oils).
