Ever look in the mirror and wonder, when did an extra layer of fat just creep onto our face?
It’s just hanging there. Right under the chin. Making us question everything we’ve ever done.
The worst is when someone points at it. We have to pull up a fake smile, all the while cursing internally.
Chin up! There are ways to reduce our flabby hitchhiker.
1. Chew that chewing gum!
Chewing gum helps to tone the chin. There are 57 muscles in the chin. Chewing gum gets all the muscles around our jawline into action. It’s almost like going to the gym except it’s for your mouth. Pick a sugar-free gum, and do it several times a day.
2. Load up on cocoa butter
There a number of reasons why our skin loves cocoa butter. It provides hydration, reduces the appearance of stretch marks, and reduces scars. The super butter also helps to decrease double chins. Thanks to their high concentration of polyphenols.1 It improves the elasticity of the skin.
Rub a little cocoa butter on your throat and chin. Massage it gently into your skin before taking a shower, and just before going to sleep. It will help to decrease that turkey chin.
3. Pamper the chin with wheat-germ oil
Wheat-germ oil is an extract from the wheat kernel. The oil contains vitamin E, which is responsible for tighten the skin.
Massage the oil onto your neck and under the chin. Do it for 10-15 minutes. Let it rest overnight, and rinse it off in the morning.
When applying oil onto your skin, make sure you stroke upwards. It should be done from the base of your neck to the chin.
4. A mask with egg whites
Egg whites are loaded with two ingredients – proteins and collagen. It could be used for anti-inflammation and even reducing fine lines. It boosts our skin elasticity as well.
- 2 Egg whites
- 1 tbsp Milk
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- Few drops of Essential oil
Mix all the ingredients together and apply the paste on your neck and chin. Let it rest until it becomes dry. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. Apply this mask once in two weeks.
Remember to do a patch test. It rules out sensitivity and allergic reactions.
5. Exercise to redefine the jawline
Like all parts of our body, the chin requires specific exercises too. The best part of these exercises are that you could do them anywhere. Even at your desk. Brave the looks from your co-workers, and pout in the name of health.
Other than aging, a double chin makes its appearance from being overweight. For best results, combine the above steps with a healthy diet and regular workout.
