Curejoy Expert Dipti Mothay Explains:

If you feel burning or stabbing pain when you urinate, you might have a bladder infection. Bladder infections are also called urinary tract infections (UTIs), which could be caused by the bacteria growing in the bladder or urethra . These infections can cause serious discomfort.

Natural remedies for urinary tract infection:

Drink More Water

Increase the amount of water you drink when you’ve got a painful UTI. Fluids perform two jobs: they empty bacteria out of your bladder, and dilute your urine.

Apply Heat

Try a warm, moist compress or a heating pad. Low heat across your abdominal region can soothe the dull ache that is sometimes a symptom of a UTI.

Cranberry

Cranberry has been a natural and alternative treatment for bladder infections for generations. Unsweetened Cranberry juice helps to flush away bacteria and keeps them from sticking to the bladder wall, so it can be effective for UTI prevention.

Probiotics

Probiotics is the good bacteria that helps to keep bad bacteria that can cause UTIs at bay, says Kandis Rivers, MD, a urologist at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Baking soda

If painful, burning urination is a problem for you during a UTI; it may help to drink half of a teaspoon baking soda mixed with a glass of water.

Cut out irritants

Things like caffeine, alcohol, spicy food, nicotine, carbonated drinks, and artificial sweeteners can irritate your bladder further and make it hard for your body to heal. Focus on healthy foods, such as high-fiber carbohydrates and healthy fats like olive oil, which are good for your digestive health.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Those suffering from UTIs can use apple cider vinegar as a natural antibiotic to treat the infection.

Indian Gooseberry (Amla)

Indian Gooseberry is rich in vitamin C which in turn inhibits the growth of bacteria.
