How To Cure Knee Pain At Home?

Home treatment may help relieve pain, swelling, and stiffness. Moreover, it may help you protect the injured or sore area too.

Ice pack

Ice will reduce pain and swelling. Apply ice or cold packs immediately to prevent or minimize swelling. Apply the ice or cold pack for 10 to 20 minutes, 3 or more times a day. For the first 48 hours after an injury, avoid things that might increase swelling, such as hot showers, hot tubs, hot packs, or alcoholic beverages. If you don’t have ice, you can use the frozen vegetable from your fridge as well.

Bandage

Wrapping the injured or sore area with an elastic bandage (such as an Ace wrap), will help decrease swelling. Don’t wrap it tightly. However, you should not expect the bandage to protect or cure a knee injury.

Elevate Your Knees

Keep your knee above the level of your heart while lying down. It will reduce the swelling part as well.

Massage

Gentle massage can also relieve pain and encourage blood flow. However, avoid massaging in the injured area if it is causing pain.

Willow Bark

A study published in 2001 found that some people with arthritis experienced pain relief using willow bark. The extract is commonly used by herbalists to treat fever, pain, and inflammation.

Ginger

Health benefits of having ginger include relief from stomach upset and nausea as well as pain relief for many conditions. A study of people with arthritis found that ginger helped to reduce pain when used in combination with a prescription treatment for arthritis.
