Avoid garlic if you have - Bleeding disorders: increases bleeding. Stomach problems: irritates the GI tract. Low blood pressure: garlic lowers blood pressure. Non-bacterial diarrhea: spicy flavor of garlic can stimulate the intestinal tract. Eye diseases: long term consumption can damage the eyes. Surgery: prolongs bleeding. Stop taking garlic 2 weeks before.

Curejoy Expert Dipti Mothay Explains:

Garlic is a perennial bulb. Traditionally, it has been used for its antiseptic and antibacterial properties, as well as for treating a range of other health conditions. However you need to be careful while consuming it especially if you are suffering from the following health conditions.

Who Shouldn’t Consume Garlic?

Patients With Bleeding Disorder: Fresh garlic might increase bleeding.

Stomach Problems: Garlic can irritate the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Use with caution if you have stomach or digestion problems.

Low Blood Pressure: It can lower blood pressure. In theory, taking garlic might make blood pressure become too low in people with low blood pressure.

Patients Suffering From Non-Bacterial Diarrhea: When people suffer from non-bacterial enteritis or diarrhea, they should not eat raw garlic. In such a case, if they eat it, the spicy flavor of the garlic may stimulate the intestinal tract, which may cause intestinal mucosal hyperemia and edema aggravation, leading to deterioration of the diseases.

Patients With Eye Diseases: Doctors of traditional Chinese medicines believe that long-term consumption of large quantities of garlic would hurt the liver and damage eyes. Therefore, patients with eye diseases should try not to eat garlic. Especially for those with poor and weak physical condition, they should pay special attention to it.

Surgery: Garlic might prolong bleeding. Stop taking it at least two weeks before a scheduled surgery.

Hepatopathy Patients: Some elements in garlic may cause stimulation on the stomach and intestines, which may inhibit the secretion of digestive juice in intestinal tract, and affect the digestion of food, thereby aggravating many symptoms for the hepatitis patients, such as nausea.

Pregnancy And Breast-Feeding: Garlic is likely safe to use during pregnancy when taken in the amounts normally found in food. There is not enough reliable information about the safety of using garlic on the skin if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Hence garlic is possibly unsafe when used in medicinal amounts during pregnancy and when breast-feeding.

The name of this page 'Ayurveda' is a very misrepresented name. 'Ayurveda' is a very old school of medicine and mostly natural ways to cure our body. The posts on this page are sometimes completely away from truth and very unreliable. I would say use caution before practicing what is said here... Just my two cents!

I find it hard to take any article seriously that is inundated with advertisements throughout the text. Clearly the motivation behind the article is to generate web traffic, not health.

It wouldn't be the least of your worries if you lived next to my neighbors. They are up all night and sleep all day. I am very suspicious and keeping garlic handy just in case.
