Curejoy Expert Dr.Janardhana Hebbar Explains:

Oranges and other citrus fruits like lemons are abundant and natural sources of Vitamin C, which is the key immunity building block in our body.  There have been conflicting views on whether a Vitamin C enriched diet or supplements can actually “prevent” cold and flu symptoms, but the effectiveness of Vitamin C during bouts of cold are well documented.

As our appetite gets affected during colds (especially solid foods), freshly prepared orange or lemon juice not only palatable but also hydrating. It gets quickly absorbed and provides nourishment and support to the body’s defense against the virus. So keep replenishing your immune stores by sipping on orange or lemon juice and your body will generously reward you back by helping recover quicker.

Avoid alcohol and other caffeinated drinks during colds to prevent dehydration.
