The commercial cosmetic industry tends to use harmful cancer causing chemicals, animal testing and all sorts of other unethical marketing strategies to convince us that we need their products while making consumers feel insecure of what they’re born with. The whole commercial consumer based system has conditioned us to use these toxic products on a regular basis, which in turn can depreciate not just our health and well being but also damage the ecosystem when these products get washed into water bodies.

Ela Gale, in this video, warns consumers that it isn’t worth getting shinier hair at the cost of an increased likelihood of getting cancer. She lists chemicals found largely in beauty products and mentions that avoiding these would mean protecting yourself from the worst of commercially made products. If you don’t have the time or energy to make your own products, look out for the one’s that are produced sustain-ably so you can support a better system.

However, if you do want to make your own hair care essentials, Ela Gale lists out the ingredients that you require and shows you how to make and preserve them if need be.

We are certain this alternative ‘homemade, healthy, vegan and eco-friendly’ option to beauty products would be as great as the end result of each product appears.
